Pristine Landscapes - Broward County, Parkland and Coral Springs Landscaping

The coontie palm is an excellent choice for planting green, lush shrubs. At maturity, it grows about 2 to 4 feet in height with a spread of 3 to 5 feet. It is Florida's only native cycad. The name cycad means "living fossil." It has literally been around since the times of the dinosaur and thrives in a variety of conditions. It is slow-growing, drought-tolerant, salt-tolerant and relatively pest-free. It tolerates a wide range of soil pH. Given soil that is well drained, it will grow in a full range of light - from shade to full sun.
